THE BOWEN TECHNIQUE...
...is a hands on complementary therapy which involves gentle but firm rolling moves with fingers or thumbs over specific stress loading points of the body. The moves create a disturbance of the connective tissue-or "fascia"-which has a ripple effect through the rest of the body-much like the ripples created by a small drip in an expanse of water.
A typical session addresses all muscle groups from the legs, into the abdomen, up the spine to the upper body, neck & head. The results are usually very relaxing accompanied by a functional recovery (as imbalances are corrected) & a greater feeling of wellbeing.
The therapy session is interspersed with breaks where the therapist leaves the room for a couple of minutes giving your body essential time to communicate with the brain & respond to the moves. Typical responses felt during these breaks range from tingling, localized heat, a feeling of muscles relaxing or lengthening & many many more.
Typical results reported by clients after a series of 2 to 4 successive sessions are notable reductions in pain or discomfort, reduced stiffness & increased range of movement, improved sleep patterns & a general boost to overall wellbeing.
